Your First Query
Once DataForSEO is connected (see Add Email & API Key), running a query takes three clicks.
A quick SERP lookup
- In the left sidebar, click SERP Analysis → Google Organic.
- In the search field, type a keyword — e.g.
dataforseo alternatives. - Pick your country (default: US) and language (default: English).
- Click Run.
Within a few seconds you'll see the live top 10 Google results with title, URL, domain favicon, description, and position. Each row is clickable — expand it to see metadata, sitelinks, AI overviews, rich snippets and structured data.
What just happened?
SEODesktop made a single call to DataForSEO's serp/google/organic/live/advanced endpoint and rendered the response as a table. Behind the scenes:
- The call used your API key (stored in the OS keychain, never logged).
- The response was cached for 15 minutes — running the same query again in that window costs nothing.
- The results file was saved to your local data folder so you can re-open it later without another API call.
Export it
Click the Export button above the table and pick CSV, JSON or Excel. The file is saved to your Downloads folder with a timestamped filename.
Want more power?
- Enable AI Analysis on the result view to auto-classify intent, summarize the SERP, or cluster competing pages. See Why use AI.
- Run a batch of keywords — paste a list and SEODesktop will queue them with automatic rate limiting. See Batch Operations.
- Explore the other views: Keyword Research, Competitor Labs, Backlinks, Site Audits. Each one works the same way — pick inputs, click Run, export the result.
