FAQ
Is SEODesktop really free?
Yes. Every feature works on the Free plan. The caps (50 results per run, 10 items per batch) are the only difference between Free and Pro. See Free vs Pro.
Do I need a DataForSEO account?
Yes. SEODesktop is a UI layer on top of DataForSEO's API — you bring the account, you pay DataForSEO per call. See Get Your Credentials.
How much does DataForSEO cost?
Most agency workflows land at $15–60/month in actual calls. See Understanding Pricing for a breakdown.
Is my DataForSEO key sent to SEODesktop's servers?
No. Your key is stored in your OS keychain and calls go directly from your machine to DataForSEO. No proxy, no middle-tier server. See Where Your Data Lives.
Do I have to use AI features?
No. AI is an opt-in capability. You can ignore Settings → AI Providers entirely and every other view still works on the DataForSEO data alone.
Can I run SEODesktop offline?
Yes, for already-cached data. Any view backed by a cached DataForSEO response opens offline. New queries require an internet connection to reach api.dataforseo.com.
Does the Pro license work on multiple machines?
Yes. One Pro license unlocks SEODesktop on all your personal machines. If you buy through an agency, contact us about team licensing.
What happens if I cancel my Pro license?
Your caps go back to the Free limits at the end of your license period. You keep every export, cached result and configured account you've accumulated — only the cap-lifting stops.
Will my data get sold / shared?
No. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no shared data. SEODesktop has no backend that collects anything from you.
Which platforms do you support?
Windows 10+ (64-bit) and macOS 13+ (Apple Silicon and Intel). Linux is not currently supported.
Can I self-host SEODesktop?
It's a desktop app — it runs locally by design. If you want to run it on a remote machine (e.g. via remote desktop or VNC) that's fine, but there's no server-mode deployment.
How do I uninstall?
See Installation → Uninstalling.
Who builds SEODesktop?
One developer — Sebastian Kraus, based in Weikersheim, Germany. See the maker section on the landing page for the story.
